Background

Da D&D Next.

= Backgrounds =\nEvery story has a beginning. Your personaggio's background reveals where you came from, how you became an adventurer, and your place in the world. Your guerriero might have been a couiraous knight or a grizzled soldier. Your mago could have been a sage or an artisan. Your ladro might have gotten by as a guild thief or commanded audiences as a jester.\n\nChoosing a background provides you with important story cues about your personaggio's identity. The most important question to ask about your background is what changed? Why did you stop doing whatever your background describes and start adventuring? Where did you get the money to purchase your starting gear, or, se come from a wealthy background, why don't hai more money? How did you learn the abilità of your classe? What sets you apart from ordinary people who share your background?\n\nThe sample backgrounds in this chapter provide both concrete benefits (privilegi, proficiencies, and linguaggi) and roleplaying suggestions.\n\n=== Competenze ===\nEach background gives a personaggio competenza in two abilità (described in "Using Ability Scores").\n\nIn addition, most backgrounds give a personaggio competenza with one or more tools (detailed in "Equipaggiamento").\n\nIf a personaggio would gain the same competenza from two different sources, he or she can choose a different competenza of the same kind (abilità or tool) instead.\n\n=== Linguaggi ===\nSome backgrounds also allow personaggi to learn additional linguaggi beyond those given by race. See "Linguaggi."\n\n=== Equipaggiamento ===\nEach background provides a package of starting equipaggiamento. Se use the optional rule to spend coin on gear, you do not receive the starting equipaggiamento from your background.\n\n=== Suggested Personaggioistics ===\nA background contains suggested personal personaggioistics based on your background. Puoi pick personaggioistics, roll dice to determine them randomly, or use the suggestions as inspiration for personaggioistics of your own creation.\n\n=== Customizing a Background ===\nYou might want to tweak some of the privilegi of a background so it better fits your personaggio or the campaign setting. To customize a background, puoi replace one privilegio with any other one, choose any two abilità, and choose a total of two tool proficiencies or linguaggi from the sample backgrounds. Puoi either use the equipaggiamento package from your background or spend coin on gear as described in the equipaggiamento section. (Se spend coin, puoi't also take the equipaggiamento package suggested for your classe.) Finalleato, scegli due personality tratti, one ideal, one bond, and one flaw. If puoi't find a privilegio that matches your desired background, work with your GM to create one.\n\n== Acolyte ==\nHai spent your life in the service of a temple to a specific god or pantheon of gods. You act as an intermediary between the realm of the holy and the mortal world, performing sacred rites and offering sacrifices in order to conduct worshipers into the presence of the divine. You are not necessarily a chierico - performing sacred rites is not the same thing as channeling divine power.\n\nChoose a god, a pantheon of gods, or some other quasi-divine being from among those listed in "Fantasy-Historical Pantheons" or those specified by your GM, and work with your GM to detail the natura of your religious service. Were you a lesser functionary in a temple, raised from childhood to assist the priests in the sacred rites? Or were you a high priest who suddenly experienced a call to serve your god in a different way? Perhaps you were the leader of a small cult outside of any established temple structure, or even an occult group that served a fiendish master that you now deny.\n\nAbilità Competenze: Intuizione, Religionee\n\nLinguaggi: Two of your choice\n\nEquipaggiamento: A holy symbol (a gift to you quando entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp\n\n=== Privilegio: Shelter of the Faithful ===\nAs an acolyte, you command the respect of those who share your faith, and puoi perform the religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free guarigione and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though devi provide any material components needed for incantesimi. Those who share your religione will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.\n\nYou might also have ties to a specific temple dedicated to your chosen deity or pantheon, and hai a residence there. This could be the temple where you used to serve, se remain on good terms with it, or a temple where hai found a new home. While near your temple, puoi call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.\n\n=== Suggested Personaggioistics ===\nAcolytes are shaped by their experience in temples or other religious communities. Their study of the storia and tenets of their faith and their relationships to temples, shrines, or hierarchies affect their mannerisms and ideals. Their flaws might be some hidden hypocrisy or heretical idea, or an ideal or bond taken to an extreme.\n\nTable- Suggested Acolyte Personaggioistics\n\n| d8 | Personality Tratto |\n|--------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|\n| 1 | I idolize a particular hero of my faith, and constantly refer to that person's deeds and example. |\n| 2 | I can find common ground between the fiercest nemici, empathizing with them and always working toward peace. |\n| 3 | I see omens in every event and azione.
