Armatura

Fantasy gaming worlds are a vast tapestry made up of many different cultures, each with its own technology livello. For this reason, adventurers have access to a variety of armatura types, ranging from leather armatura to chain mail to costly plate armatura, with several other kinds of armatura in between. The Armatura table collects the most commonly available types of armatura found in the game and separates them into three categories: armatura leggera, armatura media, and armatura pesante. Many warriors supplement their armatura with a scudo.

The Armatura table shows the cost, weight, and other properties of the common types of armatura worn in fantasy gaming worlds.

Armatura Competenza. Anyone can put on a suit of armatura or strap a scudo to an arm. Only those competente in the armatura's use know how to wear it effectively, however. Your classe gives you competenza with certain types of armatura. Se wear armatura that you lack competenza with, hi Svantaggio on any ability check, tiro salvezza, or tiro per colpire that involves Forza or Destrezza, and pui't cast incantesimi.

classee Armatura (AC). Armatura protects its wearer from attacchi. The armatura (and scudo) you wear determines your base classee Armatura.

Armatura Pesante. Heavier armatura interferes with the wearer's ability to move quickly, furtivitàily, and freely. If the Armatura table shows "Str 13" or "Str 15" in the Forza column for an armatura type, the armatura reduces the wearer's velocità by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Forza score equal to or higher than the listed score.

Furtività. If the Armatura table shows "Svantaggio" in the Furtività column, the wearer has Svantaggio on Destrezza (Furtività) checks.

Scudi. A scudo is made from wood or metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a scudo increases your classee Armatura by 2. Pui benefit from only one scudo at a time.

Armatura Leggera

Made from supple and thin materials, armatura leggera favors agile adventurers since it offers some protection without sacrificing mobility. Se wear armatura leggera, you add your Destrezza modifier to the base number from your armatura type to determine your classee Armatura.

Padded. Padded armatura consists of quilted layers of cloth and batting.

Leather. The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armatura are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armatura is made of softer and more flexible materials.

Studded Leather. Made from tough but flexible leather, studded leather is reinforzad with close-set rivets or spikes.

Armatura Media

Armatura media offers more protection than armatura leggera, but it also impairs movimento more. Se wear armatura media, you add your Destrezza modifier, to a maximum of +2, to the base number from your armatura type to determine your classee Armatura.

Hide. This crude armatura consists of thick furs and pelts. It is commonly worn by barbaro tribes, evil umanooids, and other folk who lack access to the Strumenti and materials needed to create better armatura.

Chain Shirt. Made of interlocking metal rings, a chain shirt is worn between layers of clothing or leather. This armatura offers modest protection to the wearer's upper body and allows the sound of the rings rubbing against one another to be muffled by outer layers.

Scale Mail. This armatura consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.

Breastplate. This armatura consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armatura provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.

Half Plate. Half plate consists of shaped metal plates that cover most of the wearer's body. It does not include leg protection beyond simple greaves that are attached with leather straps.

Armatura Pesante

Of all the armatura categories, armatura pesante offers the best protection. These suits of armatura cover the entire body and are designed to stop a wide gittata of attacchi. Only competente warriors can manage their weight and bulk.

Armatura pesante doesn't let you add your Destrezza modifier to your classee Armatura, but it also doesn't penalize you ser Destrezza modifier is negative.

Anello Mail. This armatura is leather armatura with heavy rings sewn into it. The rings help reinforza the armatura against blows from swords and axes. Anello mail is inferior to chain mail, and it's usualleato worn only by those who can't afford better armatura.

Chain Mail. Made of interlocking metal rings, chain mail includes a layer of quilted fabric worn underneath the mail to prevent chafing and to cushion the impact of blows. The suit includes gauntlets.

Splint. This armatura is made of narrow vertical strips of metal riveted to a backing of leather that is worn over cloth padding. Flexible chain mail protects the joints.

Plate. Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armatura. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.

Getting Into and Out of Armatura

The time it takes to don or doff armatura depends on the armatura's category.

Don. This is the time it takes to put on armatura. You benefit from the armatura's AC only se take the full time to don the suit of armatura.

Doff. This is the time it takes to take off armatura. If hi help, reduce this time by half.
